Our Baby Girl is on the Way

Much has been going on in the last few months, but here's an update:

  • Our baby girl tried to make an early appearance on February 11th when I was at 32 weeks.

  • I didn't even know I was contracting. I thought I had gas and my stomach felt like I'd done 200 sit ups the day before!!!??? We were very close to not even going to the hospital because I thought it was just going to be a "fire drill".

  • My contractions were actually 2-3 minutes apart with 2.5 cm dilation! After 2 days in the hospital, the contractions were controlled and I was sent home for bed rest. I thought bed rest would be like vacation, but it's a lot harder than I thought. I have to try to stay off my feet and I'm on medicine to help keep our baby inside. My original plan was to write a book during this time, but so far I only have the outline.

  • I'm at 37 weeks and considered full-term and I expect that our baby will be here next week. Her actual due date is April 8th (Easter), but when the medicine runs out, our baby girl will probably come out too, and that will be okay.

  • My doctor, Dana Roper-Johnson, M.D. (Essential Women's Care) has been awesome. I'm grateful to Gerald for adding me to his insurance because I had Kaiser and I don't think the doctors seeing me there really cared about me or the baby. In any case, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Roper-Johnson to anyone who needs a caring, experienced, smart, sensitive OB/GYN. Her contact info is in the link above.

  • My husband has been on double duty with work and housework. Can any women relate?

  • The nursery is coming along. our baby has also been blessed with lots of prayers, clothes, blankets, toys, diapers, essentials, a tub, a stroller, a carseat, robes, pjs, bassinets, a homemade crib set, swing, bouncer, etc. We are so grateful that so many are showing her so much love even before she's arrived. Thank you!!!!
